A fire outbreak has damaged a transformer at a power transmission plant in Dan Agundi and while another outbreak gutted parts of a paint factory in Kwakwaci, Kano State.
The two separate incidents occurred on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, according to the Kano State Fire Service.
In a statement signed by Public Relations Officer Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, on Tuesday, the service said its Emergency Response Unit received distress calls at about 9:52 am for the Dan Agundi incident and 9:05 am for the Kwakwaci fire.
“In Dan Agundi, firefighters from the Kano State Fire Service Headquarters were deployed to the power transmission plant after receiving the distress call.

“On arrival, they found flames covering an open area measuring about 200 by 100 feet,” the statement said.
The fire affected one of the electric transformers at the facility but was brought under control before it could spread to other areas.
The second incident occurred at NUTAK Universal Company Ltd in Kwakwaci, Fagge Local Government Area.
Firefighters from the Central and Bompai Fire Stations were sent to the scene, where they found a ground-floor building measuring about 50 by 100 feet engulfed in flames.
“The fire affected a toilet, 25 drums of chemicals, 600 four-litre paint containers, 10 production machines and three underground paint storage facilities.”
“One store was also slightly affected by the fire,” the statement added.
The Fire Service said two people were affected by the incident before firefighters arrived but were rescued alive.
The causes of both incidents are still being investigated.
