FCT Police recovers large scale of illicit drugs, hands over suspects, substances to NDLEA

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command have recovered a large quantity of illicit drugs from suspects arrested during operations across the territory.

A statement issued on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, on Friday handed over the recovered drugs and suspects arrested in connection with them to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

The PPRO said the handover exercise was in furtherance of the existing inter-agency collaboration between the security agencies “towards combating drug-related crimes and other criminal activities within the Federal Capital Territory.”

Speaking during the handover, the CP reiterated the commitment of the FCT Police to assist the NDLEA in flushing out illicit drugs from the nation’s capital.

“We conducted a massive raid in the FCT. We recovered an enormous quantity of substances.

“Since the Force and the NDLEA are working in collaboration, we are handing over these drugs and the suspects to you,” he added.

Receiving the items and suspects on behalf of the NDLEA FCT Strategic Command, the Public Relations Officer, ACN Samuel Orji, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for extending an arm of inter-agency synergy through the handover.

He assured that the suspects would be subjected to a proper investigation and prosecuted in accordance with extant laws.
