Farage faces inquiry over £1.4m property purchase and £5m donation
Sian Berry says focus should also be on Nigel Farage £5m donation
Nigel Farage is facing a parliamentary investigation for failing to declare a £5 million gift from Thailand-based crypto billionaire Christopher Harbourne.
Property records indicate the Reform UK leader completed the purchase a £1.4 million house in cash in May 2024, shortly after receiving the undeclared donation.
Mr Farage asserts the £5 million gift was intended for his personal security and that the property purchase process commenced prior to him receiving the funds.
Labour has accused Mr Farage of attempting to “cover up” the controversial donation, citing a potential conflict of interest given his stance on crypto transactions.
Should he be found in serious breach of parliamentary rules, Mr Farage could face suspension from the Commons, which might trigger a recall petition for his Clacton seat.
