He told the Record: “I was sleeping and I heard a bang on the door. I opened it and he hit me right over the head with something liek a metal pole. When I came round he was ransacking my wallet.
“There was blood everywhere and he was trying to clean it up, but then he started demanding my PIN number and every time I told him, he hit me again and called me a liar.
“He made me swear not to tell the police and at one point he even threatened to take me away in a car and dump me on a road. He said that would be the end of me.”

Gus continued: “I was in a state of terror. I told him I was frightened, but he was out of control and I could tell he was enjoying it. He was evil and inhumane and he held me there and beat me for hours.
“It was a nightmare that seemed to last a lifetime.”
The man stormed the property at around 2am and eventually left three hours later before Gus was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he was treated for concussion. Gus, who has lived in his flat for 15 years, is currently staying with his nephew because he’s too scared to return home.
He said the experience has left him “numb“.
