‘I phoned him on the win and he said “good karma happens to good people”,’ says engineer Anthony Canty (Local Library)
Anthony Canty, a 39-year-old EuroMillions winner, has died after being knocked off his bicycle in a collision in Tiptree, Essex, on 21 May.
Mr Canty, a father-of-two, was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries four days later.
In 2020, he won £1m in the lottery shortly after performing CPR on a police officer who had collapsed on a bus, an act that helped save the officer’s life.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and other offences, and remains under investigation by Essex Police.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage of a black Ford KA car in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
