Former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards, has urged Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez after the Gunners failed to win the UEFA Champions League this season.
Speaking on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast, Richards insisted that Arteta needs another striker to bolster his attacking options for next season.
Arsenal currently has the likes of Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres, but believes bringing in Alvarez will add something different to the team’s attack.
“I think they need another striker. Kai Havertz is outstanding in terms of technical ability, and Viktor Gyokeres has done well in his first season,” Richards said.
“But if they could get someone like Julian Alvarez, that would just give Arsenal something different.
“He’s one of the best strikers in world football going into the World Cup, and he’s already won one of those with Argentina.”
