Former Chelsea man Pat Nevin has singled out Luke Shaw for praise following Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Red Devils appeared set for a second consecutive victory when Benjamin Sesko scored with only three minutes left, directing a header past Jordan Pickford following an excellent run and cross from the overlapping Luke Shaw.
Shaw has faced a challenging start to the new season, struggling significantly in a 2-0 defeat against newly promoted Hull City on the opening weekend.
Nevertheless, Michael Carrick has continued to support the left-back despite criticism for not signing another player in that position before the close of the transfer window.

Shaw justified his manager’s trust with an outstanding all-round performance against the Toffees, posing a threat in attack and nearly securing all three points with a remarkable late block.
Ultimately, Everton’s pressure paid off in injury time when Ainsley Maitland-Niles equalised with a spectacular long-range strike, but Nevin was impressed by Shaw’s performance, which harked back to his earlier days.
He said on BBC: “Luke Shaw should take pride in his efforts. The reaction from Shaw was superb. He can go home happy with his efforts today.
“Well done to Benjamin Sesko. Luke Shaw down the left flank was outstanding today.
“Tyrique George failed to keep up with him, allowing Shaw to deliver an easy cross. George is aware that it was his responsibility that he left unmarked.”
The draw preserved Everton’s unbeaten start to the season, which has unfolded amid significant discontent among fans who have expressed their dissatisfaction with a lacklustre transfer window.
