Eleven arrested for ‘variety of offences’ as 80,000 join London protests
Crowd assembles for Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally
Eleven individuals have been arrested for a “variety of offences” across two major demonstrations in London: Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom march and a pro-Palestine rally marking “Nakba Day”.
The Metropolitan Police implemented an “unprecedented” security operation, with an estimated 80,000 people attending the protests alongside football fans for the FA Cup final, making it one of the busiest policing days in recent years.
Tommy Robinson’s supporters, many wearing “Make England Great Again” hats and Union flags, marched from Kingsway, chanting against Sir Keir Starmer and carrying wooden crosses.
Tens of thousands of pro-Palestine protestors demonstrated through central London, carrying placards with slogans such as “Free Palestine” and “Stop Arming Israel”, and chanting “from the river to the sea”.
Among the arrests, two men were apprehended at Euston Station in connection with an unrelated incident in Birmingham, while a woman was arrested at the pro-Palestine protest for refusing to remove a face mask.
