Eid-el-Maulud: Gov Adeleke urges forgiveness, unity

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on residents of the state to embrace forgiveness, peace and unity as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

In a goodwill message released on Tuesday through his spokesperson, Olawele Rasheed, the governor urged citizens to reflect on the virtues exemplified by Prophet Muhammad, including compassion, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Governor Adeleke also appealed to political stakeholders and residents to put the recent governorship election behind them and focus on the collective development of Osun State.

According to the governor, “the teachings of Prophet Muhammad provide guidance for building a society founded on mutual respect, understanding and harmony.

“As I celebrate with my Muslim brothers and sisters, I appreciate your support and prayers throughout the electoral journey.”

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting religious harmony, protecting freedom of worship and ensuring equitable governance across the state.

He stressed the need for reconciliation among citizens, urging individuals and groups to set aside grievances and work together for the common good.

“Let us forgive our persecutors, heal our wounds, reject division and resuscitate the Osun State where we live peacefully, worship freely and prosper together,” the governor appealed.

Adeleke noted that lasting peace and sustainable development could only be achieved when residents embrace unity and collective responsibility regardless of political, religious or ethnic differences.

He also prayed for continued peace, prosperity and divine blessings for the Muslim Ummah, Osun State and Nigeria as Muslims commemorate Eid-el-Maulud.
