The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has advised Muslims across the country to watch their backs during the forthcoming Eid al-Kabir festival.
The traditional ruler gave the advice in a statement signed on his behalf by his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, on Tuesday.
The monarch congratulated the Muslim faithful on seeing another Eid al-Kabir.
He, however, enjoined them to be vigilant during the celebrations, insisting that everyone must be security-conscious at all times.
The Olubadan said, “Watching one’s back entails being security-conscious of one’s environment at all times, while celebrating the exemplary life of the holy Prophet Ibrahim, who offered his son, Ismail, as a sacrifice to God.
“Although the occasion calls for merriment, we need to celebrate it prayerfully and soberly, bearing in mind the challenges facing Nigeria such as insecurity.”
