Footage has emerged showing a prisoner wrapped in a bed sheet being dragged around the floor in HMP Edinburgh. The clip, filmed on an illicit phone and uploaded to TikTok, shows the inmate being targeted as other cons can be heard laughing.
The video is captioned: “Can’t pay, we’ll take you away.” Another prisoner can be seen sliding in water in a hall at the jail in another clip.
After being made aware of the recently-surfaced account and video, a spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service said action will be taken against the culprits. Edinburgh Live reports the clip was uploaded just days ago and has since been deleted from the account.

The video is further captioned: “HMP Edinburgh pay your bill #ukjailvids #ukjail.” Several inmates can be seen gripping the sheet with the prisoner lying on the bottom of a bunk bed.
The Scottish Prison Service said it ‘works hard to prevent illicit items entering their establishments’. It is illegal for Scottish prisoners to have personal mobile phones behind bars, and can result in sentences being extended.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “Our staff work hard to keep prisons safe and secure, using all available technology and intelligence to prevent illicit items entering our establishments. We continue to work with Police Scotland, and other partners, to take action against those who attempt to breach our security.”
