Dolly Parton, the Queen of Country music, has died aged 80.
Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced the news on behalf of the family on Tuesday, saying, “Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus.” Her cause of death has not been disclosed.
Fans and friends from around the world are paying tribute to the legendary singer, known for her hits “9 to 5” and “Jolene.”
Fellow country singer Reba McEntire wrote in part on X, “Dolly, thank you for all the wonderful things you did for us here on earth. Your love, your music and you gave so much with your huge huge heart. There will never ever be another you.”
Donald Trump ordered flags to fly at half mast in the U.S. to honor Parton, writing on Truth Social: “This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will.”

Reba McEntire pays tribute
Country singer Reba McEntire wrote in a post shared on her social media accounts: “Well, I just got the news that my buddy Dolly passed onto the higher and greater side.
“Dolly, thank you for all the wonderful things you did for us here on earth,” she wrote. “Your love, your music and you gave so much with your huge huge heart. There will never ever be another you.”
She continued, “We will remember and cherish every memory and every note you ever played and sang. Thank you, Lord, for Dolly. She’s gonna have a blast in heaven singing all her favorite songs with all her family and friends who have gone on before her.

Dolly Parton dropped out of event last week
Earlier this month, Dolly Parton pulled out of attending the opening of a new attraction at Dollywood, her theme park in Tennessee.
The singer became dizzy and was dehydrated, according to a report at the time, and her doctor advised her against traveling.

Henry Winkler says it’s a ‘sad day for America’
Actor Henry Winkler said in a post on X: “What a sad day for America what a sad day for the world what a sad day for the [Parton] family.”

Donald Trump announced that flags will be lowered throughout the country for one week starting Tuesday at 6 p.m.
“Very sad to report that Dolly Parton, one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER, has just passed away,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will. In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM.”
