The naira extended its appreciation against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed that the naira strengthened to N1,343.32 per dollar on Tuesday, from N1,349.54 traded on Monday.

This means that, on a day-to-day basis, the naira strengthened by N6.22 against the dollar.

At the parallel market, the Nigerian currency remained flat at N1,405 per dollar on Tuesday, the same rate recorded the previous day.

The mixed sentiments across the official and parallel foreign exchange markets came as the country’s external reserves stood at $52.32 billion as of August 17, 2026.

Recall that the naira appreciated against the dollar to begin the week on a positive note.

DAILY POST reports that over two consecutive trading days, the naira gained N14.29 against the dollar at the official market.
