The naira extended its appreciation against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday.
Central Bank of Nigeria data showed that the naira firmed further to N1,357.65 against the dollar on Thursday, from N1,360.58 recorded on Wednesday.
This means that, on a day-to-day basis, the Nigerian currency gained N2.93 against the United States currency.
Similarly, at the black market, the naira appreciated by N5 to N1,425 per dollar on Thursday, up from N1,430 traded the previous day.
This comes as the country’s foreign reserves surged further on Wednesday to $52.19 billion, according to the apex bank’s data.
Recall that the naira ended Wednesday’s trading with a N4.31 gain against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
