Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne was attacked with ketchup in a bizarre scene that aired during Wednesday night’s episode of the ITV soap. The teacher has been played by Rob Mallard for over a decade and his latest drama has seen him trying to come to terms with the fact his ex-girlfriend Megan turned out to be a paedophile who had been abusing teenager Will Driscoll.
To make matters worse, an anonymous social media known only as Truthteller has been spreading malicious lies online about him, claiming that he is as bad as Megan. What he doesn’t know is that Jodie Ramsey, who broke into his flat and now looks set to become his girlfriend, is the one behind it all.

Daniel, who is the son of Ken Barlow (William Roache) was stood outside number one waiting for his dad and his son Bertie so they could all go for a day out at the local aquarium, but as he went to answer his phone, two youths with their faces covered stormed over and squirted ketchup all over him.
Jodie, who was less-than-impressed to discover that her long-lost sister Shona had taken her shifts at the café, then caught Daniel outside on the street as he raged: “Seriously, whoever it was that said what happens online stays online has clearly never spent any time trying to get ketchup out of an expensive jacket! I thought it was acid.”
Daniel then went to join brother Adam at Speed Daal for a curry, where newcomer Idris Nazir laughed as he showed everyone the video of the ketchup attack, which had gone viral online by this time. Daniel yelled at him to switch it off as Jodie gave a few telling glances. When Idris refused to do so, Daniel threw all the plates off the table in a fit of rage and marched out of the curry house.
Later on, Daniel tried to apologise but as soon as another message from Truthteller popped up, he said: “When I find out who the Truthteller is, I’m gonna flaming end them!” A frustrated Ken then said: “You’ve just terrified your own son! One minute, you’re all apologetic, the next, you’re hurling your phone like a missile!”
On the verge of tears, Daniel said: “In case you hadn’t noticed, Dad, I’m kind of struggling here. Really, really struggling. Megan isn’t gone. She’s in my phone, she’s in my head. She’s flamin’ everywhere. And, yeah, everybody’s worried about how she’s messed up Will. Of course they are. He’s a kid. What about how she messed up me up?!

“What kind of father am I? What kind of man am I showing him how to be if I let people treat me like this? Weak. Weak. I meant what I said. I am gonna find these people. And I’m gonna kill them.”
Reacting to the episode, fans were quick to predict that more trouble was on the way for Daniel, who has already has a complicated relationship history. Taking to Reddit, one fan said: “I wonder what his limit is before he realises they’re bad news? He even stood by Megan initially.”
Another said: “I feel so bad for him I get hes a bit of a magnet when it comes to the crazies but the pookie doesn’t deserve this! Also.. mood because i hate tomato sauce so i would scream like that!”
