Cops clashed with protesters in Midlothian after they gathered for a second day to oppose the alleged placement of a sex offender in the area.
Local residents in the Pavilion Court area of Penicuik have claimed the sex offender has been homed nearby and want him removed from the community.
They first protested on Sunday expressing concerns for existing residents, reports Edinburgh Live.
Police confirmed they had attended and engaged with the mob before they left the area.
However, footage shows around half a dozen officers struggling with a protestor before they restrain the person against a police van after a second gathering on Monday afternoon.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.50pm on Sunday, 26 July, 2026, we were made aware of a crowd gathered outside a property in the Pavilion Court area of Penicuik.
“Officers attended and engaged with the group, which later dispersed.”
The force have also been approached for comment following Monday’s gathering.
