Community infrastructure will get priority under Oyebamiji — APC secretary

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Basiru Ajibola, has said the governorship candidate of the party, Bola Oyebamiji, will embark on community intervention infrastructure upgrade across the 332 wards in Osun State, if elected governor.
Basiru stated this while speaking at the palace of Olufon of Ifon Orolu, Oba Peter Akinyooye, during APC governorship campaign tour of communities in Irepodun and Orolu local government areas of Osun on Friday.
He said if elected, the first assignment Oyebamiji will focus on will be community-based infrastructural amenities that will improve the quality of living in the rural communities in the state.
“The federal allocation has increased significantly since our leader, President Bola Tinubu, assumed office. However, there was no value for federal allocation, because the money coming into the state doesn’t commensurate with the allocation received by state governors.
“Before President Tinubu assumed office, as at April 2023, the allocation shared was N586 billion; in April 2026, the federal allocation shared was N2.2 trillion; in May, it was N2.3 trillion; and in June, it was N2.7 trillion.
“There is something called community infrastructure, and that is lacking in the present administration in Osun State. We have 332 wards out of the 332 wards we have several communities. So what are the infrastructures in these communities from the over N2 trillion?,” Basiru queried.
He continued, “The first thing that the government of Bola Oyebamiji under our party is going to do is we are going to have community intervention infrastructure across the wards in Osun. We don’t need to give a community water if they don’t need it. There must be a needs assessment.”
Addressing the gathering, Oyebamiji assured electorates that if elected, there will be better delivery of good governance across towns and communities in the state without bias.
“Like out party scribe rightly said, we won’t prioritize road over education, healthcare delivery, agriculture development, micro economy.
“We will ensure all round development and improve the business atmosphere of the state for indigenes and residents irrespective of your affiliation,” Oyebamiji said.
The PUNCH reports that electorate in Osun wil be going to the poll on August 15 to elect a governor.
In the election, the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party while 13 other parties including the APC are also participating in the poll.
