Cycling The men’s 1000m time trial final is up and pedalling in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. Cole Dempster of Canada currently has the fastest time: 1:02.169.
Australia delivered an unprecedented podium sweep in the women’s mile on the final day of athletics competition at the Commonwealth Games, after Abbey Caldwell upset Jessica Hull to secure one of seven track and field gold medals including a breakthrough victory for Lachie Kennedy’s 4x100m relay team.
The haul exceeds the six gold medals from one day in Auckland in 1950, when Marjorie Jackson and Shirley Strickland were among the winners, to make it Australia’s most successful track and field day at the Commonwealth Games.
Judo: women’s +78kg Huge disappointment for Scotland’s Sarah Adlington, who was beaten by Marie Loanne Durhone in the round of 16.
Adlington, who won Commonwealth Games gold in 2014 and 2022, was in tears after the bout and during a later interview on TNT Sports.

The Northern Ireland pair of Adam McKeown and Gary Kelly have beaten England’s Nick Brett and Jamie Walker in the men’s pairs gold medal match. Amirul Danial Abdul Rahim and Mohammad Soufi Rusli of Malaysia beat Canada to bronze.
It’s not the medal Australia wanted, but a 68-50 victory over England means they will take bronze in the netball. There were no signs of a hangover from yesterday’s shock defeat to Jamaica.
Josh Kerr’s summer of miracle and wonder continued in front of his adoring home fans as he added Commonwealth gold to his glittering collection.
In a slowly run race that frequently resembled dodgems, Kerr made a devastating kick for home with 250 metres remaining to eviscerate a high-quality field and take the title in 3:54.12.
Some had feared that Kerr might have an emotional hangover after shattering the mile world record a fortnight ago. Others believed he might be vulnerable in a last-lap sprint. So much for all that. He destroyed them all.
In fact, the 28-year-old Scot was so far in front before the end he even had time to smile and gesture excitedly to those roaring him on in the main stand.
“I couldn’t switch off because it’s been a real rollercoaster of a week,” Adam Ramsay-Peaty says with a weary smile on a quiet Thursday morning in Glasgow. He has just endured a rough night in which, after winning his third medal of the Commonwealth Games, he managed less than three hours of sleep. The medals consist of bronze in the 100m and 50m breaststroke and a silver in the men’s 4x100m medley. For most swimmers this would constitute success and satisfaction, but Ramsay-Peaty is different.
The fact that none of his three medals are gold, or attached to anything remotely like the kind of supreme performance that Ramsay-Peaty churned out with an aura of invincibility for eight years, has taken a chunk out of the double Olympic champion. There have been tears of frustration and an admission that “nothing makes sense this week”.
Ramsay-Peaty also sent out a fiery message to his tormentors in the tabloid press, and on social media, to stress that “you can’t hurt me” before urging an end to the excessive intrusion into his private life: “It has to stop. How many athletes have to go through this until the media learn their lesson?”
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the final day of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The city is still high on Josh Kerr’s glorious victory last night, and for the spectator, today has the feel of a slow, steady comedown. There are still 15 gold medals up for grabs, including the netball final between New Zealand and Jamaica and several cycling events.
For now our focus is on netball bronze, which is heading Australia’s way. They lead England 49-36 at the end of the third quarter.
