Child in critical condition after crash outside supermarket in Sunderland
- A 12-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being struck by a car in Sunderland.
- The incident occurred at 6.50pm on Tuesday 11 August on Doxford Park Way, outside a Morrisons supermarket.
- The child was crossing the westbound carriageway when he was hit by a white Vauxhall Mokka.
- The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 40s, remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries.
- Northumbria Police has launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage.
