American rapper Mystikal has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a home at his home in Louisiana in 2022.
During his sentencing on Tuesday, the victim told the court how the rapper, real name Michael Tyler, punched her, choked her, pulled braids out of her hair and forcibly raped her, before asking the judge to deliver the maximum sentence.
Addressing the court, Tyler told the victim “If I did that to you, I deserve the max sentence.”
Tyler, best known for his 2000 single ‘Shake Ya Ass’, was sentenced to 20 years for third-degree rape.

He was first arrested in 2022 after being accused of first-degree rape and false imprisonment. This past March, he later pleaded guilty to lesser charges of third-degree rape, Variety reports.
But last Friday he attempted to withdraw his guilty plea after claiming he was “under significant emotional distress” and “did not have sufficient opportunity to fully consider the consequences” before confessing to the crime.
During the trial, the victim, who was not named by the court, claimed the rapper took her keys at phone while she was at his home and raped her while she searched for money he had taken from her.
He then allowed her to leave after forcing her to send him money via CashApp.
The 55-year old was initially facing a life sentence if he had been found guilty of the original charges of first-degree rape, criminal damage to property, domestic abuse battery by strangulation, simple robbery, and false imprisonment.
However, his sentence was capped at 20 years after the rapper pleaded guilty to the crime.
Mystikal, whose Pharrell Williams-produced album Let’s Get Ready topped the Billboard charts back in 2000, has faced similar sexual assault charges in the past.

In 2017 he was accused of rape and kidnapping, but the charges were later dropped.
