Harden, 36, was taken into custody around 3 a.m. during a traffic stop and was booked on one misdemeanor count of unlawfully carrying weapons.
The California native is accused of “unlawfully, intentionally and knowingly” having a gun in his car, which was unholstered and “in plain view,” according to a copy of the complaint obtained by The New York Post. Harden had been at a hookah lounge prior to the arrest, the outlet reported.
The basketball star was released after paying a $100 bond and is scheduled for arraignment on June 22, with bond conditions prohibiting weapons, drugs, or alcohol, and requiring urine testing.
The Cleveland Cavaliers stated they are aware of the arrest, are gathering additional information, and are in contact with Harden and his representatives.
