With relegation already confirmed, Burnley have little at stake as they host Europa League finalists Aston Villa at Turf Moor. Villa, however, still have plenty on the line. Unai Emery’s side will aim to protect their grip on fifth place and extend a strong record against relegated opposition.
It is no surprise that the bookies have priced the Villans as the firm favourites in this tie at 4/7 with BetGoodwin while Burnley are 4/1 with Sky Bet and a draw is going for 3/1 with LiveScore Bet. You can also find more betting offers at the Mirror Betting Hubs Free Bets offers.
Burnley’s problems were clear again at Leeds last week. With Scott Parker leaving on the eve of the match and their relegation already sealed, the Clarets were second best from the outset, falling further behind after early second-half goals before Loum Tchaouna’s late strike restored some respectability.
Mike Jackson’s men are now winless in nine Premier League matches, with seven defeats in that run, and will be desperate to avoid a sixth straight league loss. Their 2026 record of one win, five draws and 10 defeats is the worst in the league, and it will take a big effort to halt a run of three straight defeats to Villa.

Emery’s team arrive buoyed by Thursday’s Europa League semi-final success, ending a three-game losing streak to reach the final. Emiliano Buendia and Ollie Watkins both scored and assisted, while John McGinn struck twice late on to complete the comeback and book a May 20 showdown with Freiburg.
The challenge now is avoiding a post-European hangover. Villa are sixth points clear of Bournemouth with three games left, but without a major goal-difference cushion, and with Bournemouth in rampant league form, they cannot afford to let standards slip. Villa have won three straight meetings with Burnley and have taken five wins and three draws from nine games against relegated sides, and they will expect to continue that trend against a Burnley team with just one win in their last 26 top-flight matches.
- Aston Villa to win and both teams to score – 19/10 ( BetGoodwin )
- Emi Buendia to score anytime – 3/4 ( BetGoodwin )
- Over 2.5 goals – 4/6 ( BetGoodwin )

Axel Tuanzebe is close to returning from his Achilles problem, but Josh Cullen (knee), Connor Roberts (Achilles) and Jordan Beyer (hamstring) are still unavailable. Aston Villa travel to Lancashire still without an away win in five matches, and with Martin Dubravka already having made 127 saves this season, he could be in for another busy afternoon on Sunday.
Zian Flemming needs one more league goal to reach double figures and draw level with former Burnley forwards Danny Ings and Chris Wood, but eight of his nine strikes have come away from Turf Moor.
Villa emerged from Thursday night without any fresh injury concerns, but the Europa League finalists remain without long-term absentees Boubacar Kamara (knee), Amadou Onana (calf) and Alysson. Unai Emery will be determined to end Villa’s five-match winless run on the road, but he may also rotate, with John McGinn and Ollie Watkins potentially rested and Jadon Sancho and Tammy Abraham in line to start.
