Bruno Fernandes responds to Man United legend’s criticism of assist record
“A whole new start” – Carrick on first game as permanent Man Utd manager
Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United captain, has responded to criticism from former captain Roy Keane regarding his focus on individual records over team performance.
Keane had accused Fernandes of prioritising chasing the Premier League assist record, claiming Fernandes stated he chose passes over shots in an interview.
Fernandes recently broke the Premier League assist record, ending the season with 21 assists and winning the Premier League Player of the Season and FWA Footballer of the Year awards.
However, Fernandes stated that Keane’s account of his interview comments was a ‘lie’, clarifying that he actually said he took shots when he should have passed.
Fernandes expressed that while he accepts criticism, he does not tolerate people lying about his statements, even considering contacting Keane directly.
