British woman dies in ‘tragic’ Pyrenees hiking fall

A British woman has died after falling during a hike in the Pyrenees.
The 42-year-old was on Balaitus Peak when the incident occurred, prompting an alarm to be raised around 7.30pm on Saturday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 53-year-old partner, who was with her, was reported to be unharmed.
A spokesperson for the Civil Guard said they are treating her death “as a tragic accident resulting from a fall”, and an investigation is currently underway.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed their involvement and are in contact with local authorities.
