African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from participating in the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku is seeking Tinubu’s disqualification over an alleged forged NYSC discharge certificate which the plaintiffs claim was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

According to the plaintiffs, the NYSC certificate submitted to INEC bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle,” which they said differs from the President’s name, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

The plaintiffs are asking the court to determine whether the alleged discrepancy in the certificate affects Tinubu’s qualification to contest the 2027 presidential election.

The suit also challenges provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 in relation to the qualification of presidential candidates.
