Borno: Terrorists’ camp in disarray after military bombardment – Rescued abductees

Two abductees rescued by troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion have revealed that the terrorist camp where they were held had fallen into disarray following sustained military operations in Borno State.

According to the post, the two victims were found wandering near Armuda Bridge in Gwoza Local Government Area at about 6:50 a.m. on July 16, during a routine security patrol by troops.

The victims told security personnel during a preliminary debriefing that they escaped from a terrorist enclave in the Agapalwa general area after taking advantage of the confusion within the camp.

“They reportedly said the camp had become largely dysfunctional, with no effective leadership, as several terrorist fighters had either fled or were injured during recent military operations,” Makama wrote.

The post noted that the victims’ accounts support intelligence reports suggesting that the sustained operations of troops under Operation HADIN KAI have significantly weakened terrorist strongholds in parts of southern Borno.

The rescued abductees are currently in safe custody and will undergo medical checks and further debriefing to provide intelligence that could assist ongoing counterterrorism operations.
