A body has been found in Glasgow’s east end amid the search for missing man John Hunter, police have confirmed.
The 51-year-old, from the Craigend area, was last seen in Cranhill on July 3 and had been the subject of a missing person appeal.
A man’s body was discovered on Springboig Avenue last Monday, July 13. Detectives descended on the scene while forensic officers were seen the following day.
The area was cordoned off while access to Barlanark Park and its football pitch was blocked off.

While formal identification has yet to be carried out, Police Scotland said Mr Hunter’s family has been informed.
The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Monday, July 13, 2026, the body of a man was found in Springboig Avenue, Glasgow.
“Formal identification is still to take place, however, the family of John Hunter, who was last seen in the Cranhill area on Friday, 3 July, 2026, has been informed.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.”
