Big Brother Naija has unveiled its first major twist of the season, introducing ‘The Gambit’—a game-changing advantage that guarantees two housemates a place in the grand finale but automatically disqualifies them from winning the show’s record-breaking ₦160 million prize.
The announcement was made during Monday’s live session with the housemates and was simultaneously shared on the show’s official social media pages, where organisers opened voting for fans to select one male and one female housemate for the new position.
According to the organisers, the male and female housemates with the highest overall votes will become The Gambits, earning an automatic place in the house until the grand finale. However, the privilege comes with a major trade-off—they will be ineligible to compete for the season’s grand prize.
“Biggie’s first twist is here! There’s NO eviction this week. Instead, YOU will choose one male and one female Housemate to become The Gambit, a role with huge power… and an even bigger sacrifice. They’ll earn a guaranteed place in the House until the very end of the game… but there’s one major catch. They cannot win the grand prize,” the organisers wrote.
Voting has since commenced, with all housemates eligible except the current Head of House, Chimsom Chuka, who is exempt from the voting round.
Addressing the housemates, Biggie explained that The Gambit is designed to offer longevity in the competition while taking away the ultimate reward.
“This gameplay is called The Gambit. Should you be selected, you will be gifted longevity in the Big Brother house, guaranteeing you a place in the game until the end of the season,” Biggie said.
He, however, stressed that the position comes with a significant condition.
“However, it comes with one important condition. You will not be competing for the grand prize. You will, however, remain a fully-fledged housemate, and all the rules of the game still apply to you.”
Biggie added that the selected contestants would continue participating in all activities despite losing their eligibility to win the cash prize.
“As you continue to live in the house, you will participate in all house activities, earn rewards, and experience everything the Big Brother house has to offer,” he said.
The twist comes barely 24 hours after the premiere of the show’s 10th season, which introduced a new set of housemates and saw Chimsom Chuka emerge as the inaugural Head of House.
Since the launch, the season has generated widespread reactions on social media, with viewers debating the contestants’ personalities, early alliances and game strategies. The introduction of The Gambit marks the first major gameplay twist of the season.
