A man has been rescued from a beauty spot lake by emergency services after he got into difficulty in the water.

Balderton Lake in New Balderton, near Newark, Nottinghamshire remains closed after the incident which saw police and an air ambulance rush to the scene.

Nottinghamshire Police warned people to stay away from the area. They said: “Emergency services were called to Balderton Lake, off Heron Way, New Balderton, at 2.35pm today (28 May) following reports a man had entered the water.

“Police, fire service and East Midlands Ambulance Service teams remain at the scene and we are advising people to please keep away from the area.”

News of the rescue comes after a 14-year-old boy became the 11th person to die in a water-related tragedy during the ongoing heatwave.

A man has been rescued from a lake in Newark by the emergency services, with another man getting out by himself.

Emergency services were called to Balderton Lake, off Heron Way in New Balderton. The service said the extent of the man’s injuries were not known, but updates would be provided in due course.

The lake remains closed, and the public are being asked to stay away until further notice.

News of the seach at Balderton Lake comes after a 14-year-old boy became the 11th person to die in a water-related tragedy during the heatwave.

Emergency services were called to reports of an incident near Donnington Bridge, Oxford, at around 5:30pm on Wednesday.

A statement from Balderton Parish Council says: “Balderton Lake is currently closed due to an ongoing incident. Emergency services, including Nottinghamshire Police and the Air Ambulance, are in attendance.

“For everyone’s safety, please stay away from the area until further notice. We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available. Thank you for your cooperation.”
