Australia name Test squad for South Africa tour as selectors make Labuschagne decision
- Marnus Labuschagne has been retained in Australia‘s 16-player Test squad for October’s three-match tour of South Africa, despite a recent run of poor form.
- Chief selector George Bailey acknowledged the need for Labuschagne to score more runs, but expressed confidence in his ability to make a positive contribution.
- All-rounder Cooper Connolly, paceman Michael Neser, and left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann have been added to the squad following the series against Bangladesh.
- Michael Neser returns to the setup after recovering from a calf injury, while Matthew Renshaw has also kept his place in the travelling party.
- The tour begins in Durban on 9 October, marking Australia’s first Test series in South Africa since the 2018 ball-tampering scandal.
