Arsenal have entered the early stages of a pivotal summer for the club. The Gunners will be recruiting as Premier League winners and came agonisingly close to also ending the season with the Champions League trophy.
After establishing themselves as one of the leading sides in Europe, manager Mikel Arteta will want to increase the gap on their rivals. Arsenal ended their 22-year wait for the league title after building an enviable squad but can still strengthen their team ahead of next season.
Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has consistently been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, while Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have been touted as other possible destinations. The 26-year-old previously proved himself at Manchester City before heading to Spain in 2024.
Meanwhile, shortly after losing to PSG in the Champions League final, the Gunners are reportedly targeting one of the French club’s leading young prospects. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the biggest stories surrounding Arsenal.

Arsenal could reportedly begin taking revenge on their Champions League final opponents PSG by sealing a move for Emmanuel Mbemba. PSG have offered the 18-year-old defender his first professional contract but he could be set to leave the club.
Le Parisien reports that Mbemba has several options, including interest from Ligue 1 side Paris FC. Arsenal are claimed to have also “presented its project” to the teenager after scouting him on several occasions this season.
Mbemba is nearing the end of his youth contract at PSG. However, Arsenal would face an issue if the club were to complete a move for the defender.
Le Parisien claims that Mbemba may struggle to gain a work permit, preventing him from immediately linking up with Arteta’s squad. That could boost Paris FC’s hopes of snapping up the France U18 international from their local rivals.

Julian Alvarez has reportedly ruled out a move to Arsenal in the transfer window. The Argentina international has been the subject of speculation for several months but would prefer to join Barcelona this summer.
Spanish outlet Cadena SER has reported that Alvarez is not expected to force a move away from Atletico. The forward is claimed to favour joining Barcelona but negotiations between the two sides are at a “standstill”.
As a result, Arsenal are seen as the “only realistic option” for Alvarez. However, Cadena SER adds that the forward is not considering the Gunners and does not want to move to London, increasing the likelihood of him remaining at Atletico.
Spanish publication Sport has claimed that PSG also hold an interest in Alvarez. Meanwhile, Cadena SER reports that Atletico are confident of keeping the striker and have already begun planning for the future with him in the team.
