Mikel Arteta will be on the front-foot in the summer transfer window with just two days remaining until it opens. Premier League club will be free to improve their squads from June 15 – and it promises to be an exciting summer.

The Arsenal boss admitted after last month’s Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain that his side will need to improve their quality over the break. Winning the Premier League title is just the beginning for the north London side who are likely to fork out millions in order to maintain their dominance and perhaps go one step further in Europe.

Arteta will have one eye on the World Cup 2026 with 15 Arsenal players competing in the tournament and the other on the club’s transfer possibilities. Mirror Football delves into the two latest transfer stories involving the English champions.

A left-winger is high on Arteta’s wishlist this summer and the Spaniard could be handed a golden opportunity following the latest news on Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola. According to L’Equipe, the French champions are open to parting ways with Barcola this summer.

Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have failed to consistently impress in north London with a marquee arrival on the left flank a priority for the Premier League champions. Barcola, 23, has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool in recent months.

The French outlet claims that discussions over a new deal with Barcola have reportedly stalled, leaving the club open to allowing him to leave. The Frenchman scored 13 goals and provided seven assists across 49 games in all competitions this season but has played second fiddle in parts of the campaign to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Among the players Arsenal have been linked with, Gunners icon Ray Parlour has urged his side to target Morgan Rogers and Eli Junior Kroupi in the window. Rogers is set to feature in the World Cup 2026 with England after winning the Europa League with Aston Villa.

Kroupi is fresh off a stunning season with Bournemouth and scored 13 goals in his debut campaign at the Vitality Stadium as the 19-year-old has garnered much interest in the window. Reports have suggested Villa are seeking £100m for their attacking midfielder while The i Paper has claimed the Cherries are also seeking a figure of £100m to part ways with the young striker.

Speaking to Mirror Football, Parlour has told his former side to target the remarkable double deal. He said: “I think Rogers is a fantastic player. He can play off the left-hand side as well. I think we need someone off the left. I don’t know what will happen with Trossard or Martinelli, but Rogers can play in the No. 10 role as well, which he’s done very well at Aston Villa.

“I’m interested to see where Rogers plays for England at the World Cup. Kroupi’s a very good, talented player, there’s no doubt about that. He’s a young player, and you know Mikel Arteta can make players even better when they’re young, so that would be a good signing.”
