Following a weekend of contrasting emotions, thoughts will soon turn to Arsenal’s Premier League title defence. There were broken hearts in Budapest as the Gunners suffered an agonising penalty shootout defeat to PSG in the Champions League final.
However, the tears turned to cheers again on Sunday as the club staged its trophy parade to mark winning the league for the first time in 22 years. Mikel Arteta will soon turn to next season, knowing the Gunners cannot afford to stand still.
Their rivals will be desperate to close the gap, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, who sacked Arne Slot on Saturday, set for fresh starts under new managers. Meanwhile, Manchester United could be a threat again after handing Michael Carrick the job permanently.
Arteta could strengthen across the pitch, while there are set to be a number of departures too. Mirror Football brings you the latest Arsenal news…

Arsenal remain keen on Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi and could sign the 25-year-old this summer, according to reports in Italy. Carnesecchi graduated from the Serie A side’s academy and has been their first-choice stopper since the 2023/24 season.
In the season just completed, he kept an impressive 17 clean sheets as Atalanta finished seventh in Serie A. Atalanta, who have become accustomed to selling to the Premier League, have reportedly slapped a £35m price tag on Carnesecchi. The Gunners are said to have contacted Carnesecchi’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, who is also Riccardo Calafiori’s representative.
The move could hinge on whether he is prepared to play second fiddle to David Raya. It would also raise questions over second-choice stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga’s future, although it has been suggested they would compete for the role of chief back-up to Raya.

Martin Odegaard insists he wants to stay at the club “many years” to come. Despite the Gunners’ success, it has been a campaign to forget for the Norwegian, who has struggled for both form and fitness.
But following the Champions League final, he outlined his desire to stay and help the club to more success. He said: “There is nothing to say at the moment, I am under contract here and really happy here and hopefully I can stay many years.”
Odegaard, who came off in the second half against PSG, admitted it was hard to watch. He added: “It is tough to watch from the sides. It’s small margins and you want to win it so bad. To end up with nothing is brutal.

“Again, that’s part of football and still we have done some incredible things this season. We get this close and we will come again next year
“Last year, we got to the semis, this year to the final and it is just a shame we couldn’t win it. Hopefully, next year we can go one step further and go on and do it.”
