Hundreds arrested after PSG Champions League win sparks chaos in Paris
Celebrations in France following Paris Saint-Germain’s second Champions League title win descended into violence on Saturday night.
Police detained a total of 416 people across France, with 283 arrests made in the Paris area alone, after fans gathered to celebrate the victory over Arsenal on penalties.
Disturbances included vandalism of shops, setting fires, and an attempt to storm a police station in the posh 8th Arrondissement, resulting in one police officer being injured.
Six vehicles and two storefronts were damaged, and barricades made from bicycles were cleared near the PSG stadium in the 16th Arrondissement.
This incident echoes similar violence seen in May last year, when over 500 arrests were made across France after PSG’s first title win.
