The All Progressives Congress North-West Zone has unveiled plans to embark on a mobilisation tour of the seven states in the region as part of efforts to consolidate support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was reached at a meeting of the party’s zonal leadership held at its headquarters in Kaduna, where members reviewed the political situation across the North-West and resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure the APC retains its dominance in the region.

The meeting was chaired by the APC North-West Zonal Secretary, Isah Achida, in the absence of the National Vice Chairman (North-West), Garba Datti, who was said to be away on an official assignment.

The resolution was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the APC North-West Zonal Publicity Secretary, Musa Mada.

According to the statement, the North-West remains a strategic political bloc for the ruling party, having delivered one of the highest vote totals for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

The party expressed optimism that it would surpass that performance in 2027 through early mobilisation and sustained engagement with party stakeholders across the zone.

“As part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, the zonal leadership resolved to embark on a tour of the seven North-West states to engage party leaders, critical stakeholders and members on practical measures to strengthen the party’s structures and secure an overwhelming victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC,” the statement read.

The APC also described the current political configuration of the North-West as unprecedented, noting that all seven states in the geopolitical zone are currently governed by the party.

“It is the first time since the creation of states in Nigeria that all seven states in the North-West geopolitical zone are under the control of one political party. This presents a unique opportunity to deepen party unity and consolidate on our achievements,” the statement added.

The zonal leadership also commended Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for donating a utility vehicle to the APC North-West Zonal Secretariat, describing the gesture as a demonstration of his commitment to strengthening the party’s activities in the region.

“The leadership expresses profound appreciation to Governor Uba Sani for the donation of a utility vehicle to the zonal headquarters. The gesture reflects his unwavering commitment to the growth and effective operation of the APC in the North-West,” the statement said.

The party further acknowledged the contributions of APC governors in the zone, saying their continued support had sustained the operations of the zonal secretariat.

It also praised the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; ministers; and other political office holders from the region appointed by President Tinubu for their support for both the administration and the party.

The APC urged them to sustain the momentum and deepen their support as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.

The North-West comprises Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states and remains one of the country’s most influential voting blocs. In the 2023 presidential election, the region accounted for millions of votes, making it a key battleground in national elections.
