Benue State Governor Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia has called for restraint and thoughtful consideration following the Federal Government’s proposal to establish pilot ranches in some states, including Benue, saying he will not take a position against the interests of the people.
He maintained that every Benue person is a critical stakeholder in the collective effort to make the state great again.
This was contained in a statement on Saturday by the chief press secretary to the governor, Tersoo Kula, who averred that Governor Alia had demonstrated on several occasions that he did not merely lead but also serve.
According to the statement, Governor Alia said there was a need for restraint and thoughtful consideration regarding the federal government’s proposal to establish pilot ranches in some states, including Benue.
He said there was no need to take the issue to the streets, churches, media or marketplaces in a rush to politicise it.
Kula added that Governor Alia had never taken a position that was against the interests of Benue State.
He further said Governor Alia was fully engaged on the matter and remained in consultation with the people and relevant authorities.
Sir Kula said Governor Alia would, as he had always done, approach the issue with careful consideration and strategic judgement, ensuring that the interests of Benue State and its people remained his foremost priority.
He said it was not every issue that required an immediate public pronouncement, adding that sometimes, measured deliberation produced better outcomes.
He further underscored why patience and thoughtful engagement were necessary as the government considered the proposal and determined the best course of action for Benue.
