  • The Met Office has lifted its final extreme heat weather warning, marking the end of a record-breaking heatwave in the UK.
  • Temperatures have dropped significantly after the hottest June day record was shattered three days in a row, peaking at 37.3C in Suffolk.
  • Fresher air is moving in, with temperatures expected to return to average June levels, typically in the mid-to-low twenties, for most of the country next week.
  • The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has also lifted its heat health alerts, which were in place across large parts of England.
  • The unprecedented heat caused school closures and critical incidents at NHS trusts, prompting climate scientists to warn Britain to prepare for a Mediterranean climate.
