Police recover electric cables, nab vandals in Delta

Two suspected electric cable vandals have been arrested in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, by operatives of the State Police Command.

The operatives also recovered vandalised electric cables from the suspects.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Warri on Saturday.

According to the PPRO, “On June 25, 2026, at about 1030hrs, operatives of Kwale Police Station, in a combined effort with members of the vigilante group, acting on credible intelligence that suspected vandals were dismantling and stealing electric cables along the Ibabu–Ugiliamai Road, swiftly mobilised to the scene.”

The statement continued, “Upon sighting the team, the suspects attempted to evade arrest.

“During the ensuing operation, one of the suspects sustained injury and is presently receiving treatment at the hospital, while one of the suspects is in custody.

“The suspects were later identified as Osakwe Sunday (28yrs) and Ekene Obocha (34yrs).

“The vandalised electric cables has been recovered as exhibits.”

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has warned criminal elements to desist from vandalising critical government infrastructure and other public assets, stressing that the command will not relent in its efforts to identify, arrest, and prosecute offenders.

The CP also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police.
