Bath’s iconic Royal Crescent has been named the UK’s most Instagrammable street – but living there isn’t cheap.

Built between the 1760s and 70s, the crescent is known for its curved Georgian architecture and open views leading down to the River Avon.

But latest data from Halifax shows properties on the street cost an average of £590,786 – far higher than the £298,806 that it costs for the typical UK home.

London’s Portobello Road – known for its pastel-coloured houses and bustling market – takes second place, followed by The Street in the picturesque village of Castle Combe.

Edinburgh also appears in the top 10, with both Victoria Street and Circus Lane. Thankfully, you don’t necessarily need a mega budget to live somewhere worthy of your social media.

The average price in Elm Hill in Norwich is £235,822 and Eastgate Street in Chester is £263,811. The most affordable street in the top 20 is Pier Road in Luss, where the average property costs £158,559.

London hotspots like Portobello Road and Kynance Mews sit at the top end of the market, priced at £1.66million and £1.45million respectively.

The rankings from Lloyds are based on how often each street features on Instagram and TikTok, as well as how frequently it is tagged in location posts.

Amanda Bryden, Head of Mortgages at Lloyds: “Social media is changing how people discover new places, and even where they start to picture themselves living.

“What really stands out about these streets is their character. Whether it’s colourful homes, heritage buildings or a standout setting, they’re the kind of places people can’t help but share.
