Over a quarter (27 per cent) of UKfamilies do not have a summer holiday booked this year, primarily due to soaring costs of living and travel.
The survey, commissioned by Airbnb, revealed that 42 per cent of parents feel pressured to provide a holiday despite financial difficulties.
Among families who have booked a trip, a third (33 per cent) used savings, and 38 per cent relied on financial help from relatives to cover expenses.
Lisa Marcais, Airbnb’s UK general manager, highlighted a significant “holiday gap” caused by rising costs, preventing many families from taking a much-needed break.
While Airbnb donated £300,000 to the Family Holiday Charity to assist over 300 low-income families, the charity’s CEO, Rob Parkinson, stressed that this is not a lasting solution and called for broader collaboration to address systemic issues.
