BBC Newsnight exposed Donald Trump in an explosive 35 minute takedown. Presenter, Victoria Derbyshire, opened the show by discussing the US President’s latest update on the ongoing war in Iran, which has left almost 4,000 dead and caused a serious impact on the global economy.
After Trump declared, again, that a peace deal with Iran was “close”, Victoria revealed that the US military were claiming they had shot at and disabled an Iranian-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman – while Israel had launched strikes in Beirut. “And yet tonight Trump is claiming, again, that a peace deal with Iran is close,” withered Derbyshire.
The programme then cut to a video of Trump in the Whitehouse declaring, “We’re doing well, we have to get what we have to get. If we don’t do that we’ll have to go a big step further. With that being said, they want to make a deal. We’ve had very good talks over the last 24 hours. It’s very possible that we’ll make a deal.” The cameras then cut back to Derbyshire in the studio who responded: “Well that does sound a bit familiar doesn’t it?”

She asked her panel: “Should we take his claims seriously? Over the last 60 days we’ve been told one thing by him, only for the opposite to happen.”
Responding, Victoria’s guests, including renowned BBC journalist, Lyse Doucet, all claimed the president’s claims didn’t add up.
Reacting to Trump’s latest claims, Lyse said: “I’ve seen evidence of this first hand, when Trump jumps the gun. He was telling journalists that [vice president] JD Vance was on the plane to Islamabad while the Iranians were saying: ‘We haven’t made a decision’. He didn’t go an there were no talks.”
She continued: “I know we’d like to know what is going on but we’re just going to have to wait and see.”
