A shooting at Wilmington Hospital in Delaware on Tuesday evening resulted in one fatality and one injury.
Police confirmed the suspect remains at large, and the hospital’s lockdown was lifted later that night.
Preliminary information from law enforcement sources suggests a hospital employee shot two co-workers in what is believed to be an isolated workplace incident.
Wilmington Police Chief Wilfredo Campos stated that investigators are working to identify and locate the shooter and determine their escape route.
ChristianaCare, the hospital operator, diverted patients from its emergency department, and Wilmington Mayor John Carney condemned the violence in a place that “should be a sanctuary.”
