Traitors winner Stephen Libby admitted he was excited to see Susan Boyle at the Pride of Scotland awards – but joked he was not “qualified” enough to sing like her. Both the stars were on the red carpet at Glasgow’s Hilton hotel on Monday night.

And Scots born Libby didn’t rule out a surprise duet on the night. He enthused: “I heard Susan Boyle may be in attendance. I cannot wait to see her in person. It’s a dream that I dreamed.

“I don’t think I’m qualified to be singing like her, but we could have a wee sing song tonight, who knows how the night’s going? Maybe Wild Horses? why not?”

The Traitors winner admitted he needed tissues for the awards as he prepared for an emotional night celebrating some of the country’s most inspiring people. Libby said he was ready to “get into my feelings a little bit” and expected the event to bring plenty of tears as he paid tribute to those being honoured.

He said: “I just love getting into my feelings a little bit and I think tonight’s a good way to do that and really celebrate the best of society and I’ll be crying, I’m sure, and just seeing people wonderful people doing wonderful things.

“I don’t have any hankies. Maybe I should have thought about that, shouldn’t I.”

And as well as emotions on the night, despite enjoying life down south, Stephen admitted he’s badly missing home and plans to head back to the Isle of Lewis more often over the summer. He said: “I think I’m gonna be coming back home to the Isle of Lewis a few more times as well, because I’m not really been able to get home much.”

“I get homesick in London. I miss the people of Scotland so much, honestly. My partner is English, so I do obviously love the English as well. but I do just miss the Scottish people. I mean, they are the best craic, aren’t they?”

Part of the reason he hasn’t been back to Lewis as much is how busy life has been since leaving the show, saying he had expected to slow down but that hasn’t happened. He said: “It’s been crazy. absolutely crazy. I thought I was gonna kind of leave the show and then have a bit of a relax, you know, just a bit of a chill.

“That’s not quite happened. It’s been go, go, go, go, go. I’ve done quite a lot of work with This Morning, which has been so lovely.”

He praised the people he’s worked with on the ITV daytime show, saying: “There such a lovely, lovely, group of people to work with and they’ve really welcomed me with open arms and so that’s been great.”
