Land which was part of a factory site at Eurocentral could soon be developed with more than 500 parking spaces and two outdoor padel courts.
North Lanarkshire Council has received a planning application from Anadna Properties proposing 509 parking spaces and the padel courts on a brownfield site at Parklands Avenue which has been vacant since the demolition of the Chungwa cathode ray tube factory in 2008.
Played by more than 25 million people worldwide, padel is a racquet sport combining elements of tennis and squash which saw a major increase in popularity during the pandemic.
The small size of the courts helps sustain this popularity, with many tennis clubs converting courts to attract a greater density of players.
Two properties based in nearby Maxim Park have been sent notification of this planning application.
For additional information on this application, or to leave comment for consideration, visit North Lanarkshire Council’s website and search for planning reference 26/00657/FUL.
