Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is reportedly on track to feature in Spain‘s opening World Cup fixture against Cape Verde on 15 June, despite being sidelined since April with a hamstring injury.
Spain’s head coach, Luis de la Fuente, expressed cautious optimism regarding Yamal’s availability, alongside fellow injured players Nico Williams and Victor Munoz, all expected to be fit for the match.
De la Fuente confirmed that all three players are progressing as planned and should be available for selection for the opening game, though their potential playing minutes are yet to be determined.
During a training session, Gavi made a heavy tackle on Rodri, causing the Manchester City star pain, but De la Fuente dismissed the incident as part of football and praised Gavi’s energetic play.
Spain, considered among the World Cup favourites after winning Euro 2024, enters the tournament with an impressive record, having lost only once in their last 29 matches.
