The Nigeria Police Force has urged citizens to report any officer found on duty without a visible name tag.

This comes after the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Disu, ordered strict compliance with Section 50(4) of the Nigeria Police Act 2020, which makes it mandatory for all personnel to wear name tags while on duty.

In a recent statement, the IGP declared, “We all have our name tags. It is not our standard to work without one.”

The Force Complaint Response Unit reinforced the directive in an official communication on its X handle on Wednesday, calling on members of the public to promptly report violations.

The unit linked the move to its ongoing #NoToImpunity campaign aimed at promoting accountability and professionalism within the force.

“UPDATE IGP @TunjiDisu1 enforces Section 50(4) [Nigeria Police Act 2020]. ‘We all have our name tags. It’s not our standard to work without one.’

“Citizens are advised to report any personnel in breach of this regulation. We say #notoimpunity #policeisyourfriend @CspIniedu,” the statement read.

This latest directive forms part of wider reforms by the current police leadership to improve discipline and foster better police-community relations across the country.
