Britain could be hotter than parts of the Mediterranean in less than two weeks as forecasters predict a blistering 34C heat blast is heading for the UK.

Weather maps from forecaster WXCharts show temperatures expected to rocket to above 30C across multiple counties on June 19 as another potential heatwave looms.

The south east looks set to bear the brunt of the scorching conditions, with London and Surrey forecast to swelter in a sizzling 34C.

Kent, Essex and Sussex are not far behind, with temperatures expected to climb to between 31C and 33C as the hot spell grips southern England, reaching 19 counties.

The heat is forecast to spread across East Anglia and parts of the Midlands, while Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, and Cambridgeshire are all in line for 30C highs.

Rutland, Leicestershire, and parts of Lincolnshire are also forecast to reach 30C

Further south-west, Devon and Cornwall will escape the worst of the heat, although temperatures could still reach a balmy 28C.

Across Wales, highs are expected to sit around 26C, dipping to about 25C in central areas.

A start north-south split is forecast, with Scotland, Northern Ireland and much of Northern England set to miss out on the hottest temperatures. Instead highs there are expected to range from the low teens to the mid-20s.

But before Brits start dusting off the sun loungers, the country must first brace for another washout.

A huge rain system is forecast to sweep across large parts of the UK tomorrow, on June 8, before the mercury begins its dramatic climb.

The Met Office is warning of “changeable conditions” with showers or longer spells of rain likely to continue.

According to the forecaster, the start of next weeks is shaping up to be wet and windy, the with rain expected to “move southeastwards across the country through tonight, turning heavy in the north and west and accompanied by some rather gusty winds”. Scotland and Northern Ireland are also facing showers.
