Vinny Dingle’s rumoured Emmerdale exit may have been explained in new hints.
Soap producer Laura Shaw has told a publication about new scenes ahead for Vinny. It follows reports that actor Bradley Johnson, who plays Vinny, is leaving the role after seven years.
It’s claimed Vinny’s traumatic past, including the abuse he suffered at the hands of his violent father Paul, will be revisited. This will apparently be triggered by the arrival of his partner Lewis Barton’s father Kev Townsend.
What follows is Vinny is left “nervous” around “unpredictable” Kev, and he is said to be reminded of his own father. But will this come between the couple, and will this spark Vinny’s potential departure from the ITV soap?

Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Laura shared that Vinny would struggle to get along with Kev when he arrives, and once Lewis finds out about Kev being his biological dad.
She said: “What we need to remember is the relationship that Vinny had with his own father, Paul, who was quite abusive.
“It brings a lot back for Vinny because Kev is slightly wild, edgy and can be unpredictable. Vinny’s quite nervous about Lewis having a relationship with Kev, because he reminds him of Paul.”
Fans have started to speculate that this is what leads to Vinny leaving the show. A fan posted online: “This must be the way they’ve chosen to write Vinny out.
“It’s a pity as I don’t like the way this seems to be going.” Another fan agreed: “I guess Vinny asks Lewis to choose between him and Kev and leaves after Lewis picks Kev over him.”

Just weeks ago, it was reported Vinny was being written out of the soap. When contacted by the Mirror, ITV said it would not be making any official comment or confirmation regarding Bradley’s departure.
It followed reports that Dawn Taylor actress Olivia Bromley and Jimmy King actor Nick Miles were also being axed from the soap. A report stated Nick’s character Jimmy would be killed off in devastating scenes, and fans are outraged.
A publication suggested the cuts were due to there being less episodes. As for Bradley, it was claimed that his co-stars were left shocked by the news he was being “axed” from the show, with him being a very popular cast member.
