Tim Lovejoy has co-presented Sunday Brunch alongside chef Simon Rimmer since 2012, but he’s now confessed that, despite 14 years under his belt, he still tends to “get stuff wrong all the time”.
The programme welcomes a celebrity-packed roster of guests, including ’80s pop sensation Tiffany, whose recent visit to the Channel 4 show sadly left Tim feeling disappointed.
Speaking candidly on award-winning motoring podcast Fuelling Around, Tim revealed that he and his team undertake thorough preparation ahead of the three-hour show broadcasting each weekend, with the presenters making sure to “research the hell out of it” before guests arrive on set.
However, Tim was gutted when he failed to quiz ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ hitmaker Tiffany about the period when she temporarily stepped away from stardom to pursue an ordinary job.

The former Soccer AM host explained: “The prep is done before the show. They ram so much into the show, there’s so many interviews. The show is three hours, it takes me four hours on a Saturday to learn it all.
“I have to research the hell out of it and I still get stuff wrong all the time. We have between six to eight guests on and I do love it.
“We had Tiffany (80s pop singer) on recently and she gave up this one beautiful bit but we never got to it.”
Disclosing the anecdote that Tiffany had shared with the Sunday Brunch crew beforehand, Tim recalled: “She gave up celebrity and fame and worked in a home decor store and was just about to get promoted and someone went: ‘Aren’t you Tiffany?’

“She didn’t get her promotion, had to leave, and went back into celebrity again. I couldn’t get there in the three hours, I know it sounds mad, and I was like ‘I’ve got to get there, I’ve got to get there’ and I couldn’t.

“It was really frustrating as I think the viewers would have loved that.”
Tim’s co-host Simon Rimmer has previously spoken about how things frequently go awry on Sunday Brunch, calling it “the joy of live telly”. He’s also highlighted how his friendship with Tim has played a key role in the programme’s enduring popularity.
Speaking to Cheshire Life last year, he explained: “Tim Lovejoy and I are really good friends who don’t take ourselves too seriously but do take our work seriously, which helps the guests on the show to relax and have a good time. It’s great when you see the guests, who may never have met each other before, getting on and even exchanging numbers at the end of the show. We are very lucky.”
