Manchester United icon, Jaap Stam has identified two players that the Red Devils should sign to enhance their squad following Casemiro’s departure from the club this summer.
Casemiro had a fruitful tenure at Manchester United, netting 26 goals and assisting 13 times in 160 matches across all competitions while playing as a defensive midfielder.
During his four seasons with the club, he secured the EFL Cup (2022/23) and the FA Cup (2023/24). His contributions were crucial in aiding the Red Devils to qualify for the UEFA Champions League in the upcoming season.
He declared his intention to leave the club as a free agent in January, creating a significant void in Manchester United’s midfield.
Former player Jaap Stam has urged the Old Trafford side to recruit several players to fill the gap left by the legendary Brazilian, allowing him to partner with Carrington academy graduate, Kobbie Mainoo.
He stated via Tribal Football, “Everyone is discussing how to replace Casemiro, who had an outstanding season this year and made a considerable impact.
“He transformed his game compared to the previous season, becoming significantly fitter, scoring goals, and leveraging his experience to assist other players within his preferred system.
“They need to recruit one, or possibly even two, additional midfielders who possess the stamina and skill on the ball to manage the build-up and support the team alongside Kobbie Mainoo. This would enable Bruno to operate as a number 10, which is crucial, as we have observed at United. Therefore, everyone is contemplating that position.”
Stam subsequently mentioned two players he believes would be perfect for his former club.
He added, “I am impressed by Carlos Baleba from Brighton; he continues to catch my eye. Additionally, I have a strong admiration for Sandro Tonali from Newcastle in that position. These two players are ones I would like to see at Man Utd.”
